How To Save Your Childs Teeth?


A) Tooth Brushing Technique For Children:

  • Parents should brush their child’s teeth twice daily till their child is unable to hold brush.
  • Care should be taken by the parents whether their child is not swallowing the toothpaste, amount of tooth paste and proper tooth brushing technique.
  • Parents should teach their child to properly spit the tooth paste and not swallow it and gargle with water after brushing.
  • Parents should always make their child gargle with water after every meal or after eating any sweet and sticky food.

B) Child's Diet:

  • Avoid giving chocolates and sticky food more often, instead replace sticky food like pizza, chips with green leafy vegetables, fruits, raw vegetables like carrots, cucumber which in turn acts as self cleansing agent and makes the tooth strong.
  • Avoid sticky food stuff in the night as it remains over the tooth surface and tooth may decay fast.
  • Always gargle after eating sweet and sticky food.
  • Always clean the teeth and tongue with wet cloth after bottle feeding in the night.
  • Breast feeding up to two years.

C) Regular Checkup At Home:

  • Parents should check their child’s teeth regularly as any damage to milk tooth will damage their permanent tooth.
  • Parents should notice any small black dot / decay /cavity on the tooth and immediately consult your dentist for checkup.
  • Immediate precautions taken help prevent your child’s teeth free of decay.
  • Dental checkup every 6 months, as prevention is better than cure.

D) Before Bringing Your Child To A Dentist:

  • Parent should not threaten their child about doctors and injections.
  • Parents should never share their dental experience in front of their children. Hence, child becomes apprehensive and does not cooperate with the dentist during dental procedures.
  • Parents play a very important role in keeping their child’s teeth healthy.

So, keeping your child’s teeth healthy early in life is essential to their wellbeing and future oral health.
